What do you for work and lift?
Playing tennis is my passion and not my full-time job, I hold a full-time desk-job and am desk bound for more than 8 hours a day.
What are your struggles as a Modern Day Athlete?
I don’t have much time to train but I still like to play tennis and compete, so any injury or discomfort that prevents me from exercising can be frustrating.
Throughout the years, I have had a few injuries and the most recent one was my right shoulder. I needed to find the source of my problem and most importantly avoid any future injuries.
What was your experience like at WLB?
My sessions at WLB has helped me gain awareness of the bad habits in my chain of movements. I found the session physically and mentally challenging as I had to rewire my brain to learn the correct new movements and get rid of my old bad habits.
The most important part is that I have become more aware of my movements and learned how to move my body more efficiently without putting any unnecessary pressure in my joints.
What’s your biggest take-away from working with WLB?
Once I started working with Shern, I learned that my body was designed to move efficiently, each part contributing to specific movements. Once my movements were off balance other parts of my body would over compensate for the parts that are not doing their job correctly.
How has this helped you in your lifestyle?
After a few sessions, the improvement was very noticeable. I feel more comfortable on the court; my strokes feel more natural, I have more physical stability and I can put more of my weight on the tennis ball. All of these helps me be more consistent and adds speed to my strokes.
What are your long term goals?
I want to play tennis and continue to be active for the rest of my life and I believe the skills I have learnt in this program have helped me train smarter and stay injury free.
